Run San Marcos

The new chapter begins. I have been working hard on getting my new store ready, CORE RUNNING COMPANY, here in San Marcos. It has been alot of work, but alot of fun. Central Texas is a rich running region, with tons of recreational runners, due to the active demographic and favorable weather. Austin, 25 miles to the north, is a very densely populated running city, with 4-5 stores competing for business.

I chose to settle down in San Marcos, a very small community in Hays County, about a hlaf hour away. Although not as busy here, I am happy to create a store that will service this community. We live here, send our kids to school here, and work the local races here. Above is our local San Marcos Runner's Club, an incredibly active club in town that does twice weekly runs. A few of the group competed in a 5k this morning, I am getting back into "racing" shape, but was suprised that I actually was able to win my age group, 40-49, and earned a tombstone trophy.

I'll keep the info coming on CORE RUNNING COMPANY, but we are super happy to be part of this community and building a local business that hopefullly be around for a long time!

I am superficial

I never really cared that much about nice cars. Take em or leave em. But now I have one. And it's really nice. I did buy it used, it's a 2004. But it's a Lexus SC430, a car that has not changed body design since 2002, and keeps the current design today. So it LOOKS new. I keep feeling guilt about owning it. But it really was about the same price as a new Honda Accord, so it wasn't that irresponsible right?

Market Days

Sunday: Movers unloaded our house. Monday: The cableman arrived too late to install internet or cable. Tuesday: appliances arrived. Wednesday: cable arrived and it took 8 hours to install due to our hilly lot. Also, pouring rain. Thursday: Painted wood paneling. Friday: tree fell on electric line, washing machine drain backed up and overflowed. Saturday: Needed a break. So we drove 15 minutes to Wimberley, Texas, a super cool artsy town in the Hill country.
The first Saturday of every month they have market days, with everything from ceramic skulls, to paper maiche Texas maps.

World Cup...One Day Away

Very excited. Tomorrow marks the beginning of one month of ultimate time killing. The World Cup. I will think of many creative ways to get out obligations in order to watch games.

Texas

After three separate stints in Los Angeles, it's time to go...for good...we think. Come late June, I'm packing up a 26' UHAUL with my colleague Garrett, or if he cancels, which I am sure he will after thinking about sitting on gray vinyl UHAUL seats for 2 days straight, my friend from 7th grade, Sean, who admits he LIKES long rides in moving trucks.

We have a new (old) house waiting in the Austin, Texas area. We tried moving to Austin last year, but got sucked back to Los Angeles.

So get ready Texas, we are ready to consume your margaritas, your 100 degree days, your large parking lots, your trucks with lift kits and your BBQ.
